When Darkness Falls...

Kataki had now reached her apartment, and bolted upstairs to her floor where she lived in her flat with her parents. Well, one of them anyway. Her father never got to see her much because of his job, so she lived with her mother most of the time. But her mother had a busy job too, sadly.
The girl reached the door, and quickly headed inside.

Kataki set Impmon gently on her couch, then walked around the flat to find her mother. When she couldn't find her, Kataki walked back into the living room. Impmon had sat up, ears pinned back slightly as he glared at a sheet of paper he had in his hands.
"Hmph. If you're lookin' for you mom, she ain't here." The little digimon said, narrowing his sharp green eyes.
"Huh? Did she go out somewhere, Impy?" His tamer asked, eyes lowered slightly. Impmon growled and shoved the paper up in Kataki's face. "This's what I mean! Here, read it!" He snapped.
The 15 year-old blinked in surprise, then took the paper and read it silently. She sighed, closing her eyes. "...I knew it. She's out working... again. She never seems to spend time with me anymore..."
"Yeah well, that's life, kid. Get used to it." Impmon replied, closing his eyes and leaning back against the sofa, arms behind his head.

But I'm here with ya, Kataki. No need to worry...

Gaogamon followed the girl to an apartment building. Knowing that he could not advance further, he leaped up onto the roof of their building. From his position, he could clearly see around so that no one could enter the building without his knowing. He would wait there until Hiroshi called for him.

"Heaven's Ripper!" SlashAngemon screamed as he stood in the pose of a cross. Light gathered around him causing a huge cross to form. He then backed up and spun into the cross, transforming the cross to a blast. He then aimed it at Leviamon and blasted it towards him.

"Ah!" Leviamon screamed out in pain. He was starting to show signs of weakness but was not even close to disintegrating.

Impmon opened an eye and glanced upward, hearing something on the roof. "Eh? Did ya here somethin'?" He asked.
"Yeah, I did. Hope that giant alligator digimon's not on the roof." Kataki said, chuckling. She smiled and made her way to the kitchen. "I'm gonna have the rest of the steak from last night..." She told him, opening the fridge door.

"Hmph, alright. I'm gonna go 'n see what's makin' a ruckus." Impmon replied, standing up on the couch. He hopped off and walked to the door.
"Ok, just don't cause trouble." Kataki called behind her back.
"Yeah yeah, and save me a piece o' steak, will ya!"

Impmon headed up the stairs, out to the fire escape. He quickly climbed the fire escape up to the roof.
"'Ey, Balto, whatcha doin' here, hah?" He asked, looking at Gaogamon from across the roof.

Gaogamon looked over as the little imp walked towards him.

"I'm standing guard to protect you and your tamer," he said proudly. "While the others are holding off Leviamon, Hiroshi sent me here to watch over you...seeing as how you can't evolve," he finished, knowing that his last statement would anger Impmon.

[Impy~]

"What the-- What makes ya say that?!" Impmon snapped, clenching his gloved fists. He then jabbed a finger at Gaogamon angryly, narrowing his eyes at the bigger digimon before him.
"I can digivolve if I want to! You just think that even though you're bigger than me, you can push me around? Well guess what Fido, I could blast ya to kingdom come with just one Badda-Boom! And when I digivolve, I'm gonna fight you, beat you to a pulp, then absorb your data! Ahahahaha!!"

Gaogamon just stood there with a vacant expression. "Oh, I'm terrified," he sarcastically said in a monotone voice. "You have yet to even evolve to champion while I can even evolve past mega. You know, it is really not customary to threaten to kill he who protects you. You think that you're so big and bad when really you're just an imp." Gaogamon's voice turned mean as he growled, "The only reason why I have not yet devoured you and absorbed your energy is because my master told me to keep you from harm. But if something occurs that causes me to have to choose between the lives of my family or yours - suffer no delusion: I will kill you."

Exhale... exhale... exhale. Air left Impmon's mouth as he tried to think of something to say. Usually, he would just turn his head up and say something mean and cynical to avoid admitting that his opponent was correct, but something in Gaogamon's voice prevented him from doing so. He took a step back when he heard a scream coming from inside the apartment.

"Kataki!" he screamed as he dove for the door that led back into the building.

Gaogamon gasped when he heard the scream. As much as he disliked the Digimon, it was his duty to protect him. He chased after Impmon, degenerating back to Gaomon in the process so he could fit through the door. He followed Impmon down the stairs and into the apartment. Gaomon got through the door about thirty seconds after Impmon did and saw that a tall, silver coloured Digimon that resembled the one they had fought earlier that night standing in their living room.

"IceDevimon," Gaomon said. "Leave here!" he bellowed.

IceDevimon only smirked. "Leviamon shall appreciate this," he said. He held his hand out and froze Gaomon where he stood in ice. He jumped towards the others, wishing to do harm to them as well.


"Holy Sword!" SlashAngemon screamed as he stabbed Leviamon with his left sword-shaped arm. He announced the attack again and added his right arm to the attack as well. "Antylamon!" he screamed. "Help!"

Hiroshi felt as if he had been stabbed in the heart. "Ah!" he screamed as he fell to his knees. "Gaomon," he mumbled. He looked behind him and saw a shining silver light coming from a building. "No..."

Impmon was now infront of Kataki, in a battle stance as he faced his new foe.
Kataki was afraid, but she pulled out her digivice anyway. "C'mon Impmon, let's beat this guy!" She said, a slight quiver in her voice from her fear.
Impmon nodded, then smirked up at IceDevimon as he lit a flame on his finger. "Badda-Boom!!" He fired it, and the flame flew for IceDevimon's right arm. It hit, and the digimon screamed as he felt his right shoulder start to melt.

"Hah! How d'you like that? Not so cool now, are ya?!"

IceDevimon just rolled his eyes at the amusing remark. He held out his hand towards the frozen dog Digimon. Gaomon started to very, very slowly fade away.

"Soon, he will disentigrate, leaving you defenseless." He held out his long hand to try to grab Impmon.


Hiroshi knew something was wrong. He just looked up at the two Digimon who were fighting with Leviamon and then to Gabriel. "Keep them fighting. I have to go." He started to run towards the source of the light clutching his stomach. "Don't worry, Gaomon," he thought. "I'm coming."

Kataki gasped and quickly swipped a card: "Digi-Modify! Speed activate!"
Impmon dodged IceDevimon's incoming hand with a burst of speed. He rushed towards Gaomon, and jumped onto the top of his frozen prison.
"Nngh, c'mon you popsicle, lets getta move on!" Impmon said, trying to move the frozen digimon in any way.

Hiroshi came running down the hallway and skidded sideways past the door, having to stumble and run back. He gasped when he saw his frozen Digimon. He looked up at IceDevimon.

"Youuu..." he muttered. Hiroshi summoned his DigiSoul around his fist and after Impmon had jumped down, he punched the frozen encasing, causing the ice to shatter and go everywhere. Gaomon shook himself dry. Amazingly, the ice did not do any real damage to Gaomon as he stopped fading and reached his normal state. "Let's go, Gaomon!" After a quick swipe, Gaomon evolved to his champion form, barely even having enough room in the apartment to stand.

"Spiral Blow!" Gaogamon announced as he shot a gust of wind towards the frozen demon. The attack forced IceDevimon to fly forcefully back into a wall and burst into data, which Gaogamon accepted. Hiroshi looked around at the mess he had made. The items that once rested comfortably in the living room were now scattered all across the apartment.

"Er....gomennasai,"* he mumbled. Gaogamon quickly degenerated and went back into Hiroshi's Digivice iC in one movement. Hiroshi stumbled backwards heading for the door. He quickly ran out trying to get back to the battle against Leviamon, leaving Kataki and Impmon in a disheveled apartment.

"Wh-- Hey, wait!" Kataki shouted after Hiroshi, taking a step foreward. She sighed as she watched him leave the flat.
Impmon glanced around the apartment in annoyance. "Hmph! He didn't even stay to help us clean up this mess!" He growled. He then stamped his foot and tugged on his ears in frustration. "And I didn't get to absorb any data! Geez, what's a digimon gotta do to get stronger here?!" The digimon began to pace back and forth across the room, as Kataki started to pick up fallen and broken objects. She sighed and turned to him.

"Impmon if you're not going to help me, you can atleast go outside or something..."
"Fine, I will. Seeya later, kid..." Impmon said, then headed out the door. Kataki winced slightly as the door was slammed shut. She glanced at the clock hanging on the wall; it was already 11:48 PM.

Impmon growled as he walked down a sidewalk, hands clenched into fists. "I wanna digivolve... it's not fair. I deserve it! All those other digimon get to defeat evil digimon and absorb their data greedily like a kid eating a whole bag of candy! What about me, huh?!
...When I saw IceDevimon, I thought that was my chance... But that stupid mutt got to it first!"

"...You think that you're so big and bad when really you're just an imp." Gaogamon's voice turned mean as he growled, "The only reason why I have not yet devoured you and absorbed your energy is because my master told me to keep you from harm. But if something occurs that causes me to have to choose between the lives of my family or yours - suffer no delusion: I will kill you..."

Impmon's ears and eyes lowered in shame.
"He's right... I am just an imp... But if I ever get the chance to digivolve, that little mutt's gonna pay!"

Hiroshi successfully made it back to the battle against Leviamon. He looked up to see SlashAngemon come crashing down into the water. Leviamon swung his two tails in a whip-like fashion, aiming for Antylamon.

"Wait for it Antylamon, wait for the contact.",Gabriel whispered into his clutched hands around his digivice.
"Now?",Cannondramon asked taking aim at Leviamon.
"Now!",Gabriel shouted as he started giving commands to Antylamon via the digivice,"Antylamon, use your vests strength to absorb some of his data instead of degenerating him. Then digivolve."

Antylamon nodded as she recieved the command and took the blow across the back. With a bright light then several balls of data coming forth from Leviamon to Antylamon. Antylamon hit the waters surface with her stomach then slowly sank followed by the balls of data.
She then errupted out of the water digivolved into Cherubimon.

"Now strick it with Asipatravana. You too Cannondramon; Cannon Buster!",Gabriel shouted as the two's combo attack met in midair and fused into a streaming rainbow cannon that was half of Leviamons size then struck him straight in the face.
