Well, I guess it's time to start this RP. The other half of it for the Digimon will be in the Digital World section. So, here we go.
* * *
"Bloomington has been walled in, along with various other cities in the area, but the population count their Governers gave us was off."
"By how much?"
"Several hundred humans--missing, that is."
"Nothing to be concerned about...yet."
The dark, crackling voices on the radio wave transmitter fell silent.
Asher, turning to his little brother, Lloyd, asked, "So they know we're here?"
"They know we're not there," replied the boy, switching the buzzing radio he had repaired and modified off. The brothers had built it together in an attempt to listen in on the...Things' conversations. It worked pretty well, but most of the things that were heard had little relevance, until now, that is.
Asher sighed, glancing at the sleeping forms of the rest of his family sleeping on the various couches and chairs they had in their basement. It had become their prison ever since the Things had taken over the city. "What are we s'posed to do?" he muttered. "We can't live like this."
Young, optomistic Lloyd perked his head up as an idea entered it. "Well, they said there were hundreds of others missing, probably hiding in their basements just like we are. Let's dig tunnels between each others' basements--"
"Lloyd?"
"--and then we'll make a huge network of us and make our own band of freedom fighters--"
"Lloyd!"
"--just like in Sonic the Hedgehog. What, Bro?"
"Unless you're prepared to dig with your bare hands until your forty, I think we should focus on a different plan."
Lloyd stared at the floor. "Guess you're right."
Asher yawned, suddenly realizing how long it had been since he had slept. No one had any watches and couldn't see the sunlight, so everyone just slept whenever he or she felt tired. "I'm gonna crash now, 'kay?"
"'Kay. Goodnight, Asher. I'm gonna keep playing with this radio."
"Well, don't keep me up with it." called Asher as he lay down on the basement rug and tried to get comfortable. They'd been trapped here a little less than a week, but he was sure he'd never get used to sleeping like this. He hoped he wouldn't get used to any of it, hoped it was just a nightmare.
