(Takes place two years before present)
It was early afternoon still, and Noro was in high school. He sat bored in the back of his english class, waiting patiently for the last bell of the day to ring. Noro's friends were sitting around him, and they were quiet too, not wanting to anger their english teacher.
"So, I'd advise you all to go home and work on your research projects. They're due next friday," said the english teacher, followed by groans from her students. She was finished outlining the project and went to sit down at her desk. "Okay, we only have a few minutes before the bell, so you can talk amongst yourselves."
Immediately one of Noro's friends was almost shouting, "So, guys, what's going on for this weekend, any parties?"
"Oh, shut up, you're a fiend," replied one of his other friends.
"Hehe, I know. How about we do some jamming today, then? I'll call you when my parents give the okay!"
Everyone in the group agreed as the bell echoed and everyone was rushing out the door eager to get home. The english teacher yelled above the obnoxious crowd, "Have a nice weekend!"
After making a quick trip to his locker, Noro was on the bus heading home. The sun was shining, and it was fairly warm out. Well, at least I won't be cold walking to band practice, Noro thought.
The bus screeched to a halt in front of Noro's driveway. Ah, home at last. Noro went inside, straight to his computer. Being the nerd he was he loved to play computer games. He logged on, and opened the internet. He typed in the address to his regular site, and the page loaded quickly. He was just about to click on a link when suddenly *flash* a large pop-up appeared obstructing the entire screen.
"Darn advertisements. What garbage is this? The Digital World?" Noro muttered quizzically. He clicked on the X in the top right corner to close the window. He proceeded to click on the game link again, but the same pop up came up again.
"What the? Whatever these Digimon are, they need to leave me alone! Wait a sec, isn't this that new game people are talking about?" Noro decided to click on the ad in the hopes of finding a fun game to play. However, the screen stayed unchanged. Still staring at the same window, he tried moving around the mouse.
"Better reboot it." Noro went to push the small button on his computer, but stopped short. He saw the lights on his wireless router flashing abnormally. He touched it only to retract his hand in a flash.
"Ouch, that's hot! Forget it, I'm going to the park to burn some time, it's a nice day." He then walked out of the room oblivious to the fact that his router was sparking.
Noro was walking down the road with earphones in his ears, classic rock playing in his head. When he was walking past his friends house, however, he heard something above jimmy page's guitar solo. "Huh, that doesn't sound like Led Zeppelin..." He took out his earphones and heard drums crashing wildly and a guitar strumming out a chord progression.
Noro strolled down his friends driveway and lifted up the garage door. The music stopped abruptly. "Hey, how come you didn't call me?" Noro asked his friends.
"Uh...well, we thought you wouldn't want to come," the drummer replied.
"What do you mean, I play bass in the band!" Noro exclaimed, a little annoyed. "You know what, I don't care, have fun," he said as he closed the garage door and headed back home.
When he got back in his room he jumped on his bed that was too small for him. He wasn't in the mood to be doing anything. I don't believe this...why would they do that to me? I thought they were my friends...
Noro rubbed at his eyes with his sleeve. When he lifted his head off his pillow, he saw two red eyes looking directly at him. Somewhat surprised, he jumped up. "What are you, exactly?" he asked rhetorically.
The yellow lizard wearing blue fur answered, "I'm a Digimon, Noro. My name is Gabumon."
"How did you know my name? Better yet, where did you come from?"
"Where I came from? I came from the Digital World, but I haven't lived there for very long," replied Gabumon. "I know you because I was created especially for you, Noro. We're a lot alike, you know."
"The Digital World? I thought it was just a game...Anyway, why did you come here?" Noro inquired.
"Oh, that's easy, I came here for you! Here," Gabumon said as he handed Noro a strange black and purple device. "This is a digivice. You'll need it to get to the digital world," he said.
Noro scrutinized the digivice for a few moments and looked back at Gabumon. "Really? You came here for me? Wait, hold on, I can't go to the digital world! I have school!"
"But I thought you didn't like school..." Gabumon muttered.
Noro thought about it for a moment. I really don't like school, or anything here for that matter. People are so cruel...Plus this Gabumon seems to actually want me around. What do I care about this world?
"Okay, I'll go," Noro said. He lifted up the digivice once more, and he heard loud humming coming from his computer. A bright light surrounded him, and he vanished along with his new companion.
