"Ok Cyndaquil, Ember Attack!"
"Quuuuiillll~!" Tiny flames shot out from the fire mouse pokemon's mouth, aiming for a wild Sentrent which had been hiding in the grass not far from New Bark Town. The Sentrent tried to dodge the attack, but some of the flames singed its fur, and the raccoon pokemon fell to the ground in surprise. "Great job!" A 15 year-old girl called out to Cyndaquil. Her name was Kataki, and she was destined to become a famous Pokemon League Champion. She knew that with Cyndaquil's help, she could capture and train a whole team of pokemon and fulfil that dream. She grinned and adjusted her purple-rimmed glasses, then called out her pokemon's next attack. "Ok! Finish it off with a Tackle!" Cyndaquil rushed towards the Sentrent, and slammed into it with a full-body tackle. The Sentrent squealed and it was knocked to the ground. It struggled to get to it's feet, but it collapsed from exhaustion, one eyes barely open. "Don't worry Sentrent, you'll be fine." Kataki said, then threw a red and white capsule-like ball: a Poke-Ball. "Poke-Ball, go!" The ball soared through the air, and sucked the sentrent up in a flash of red light. It then landed on the ground and wobbled a few times, then stopped with a 'ding!' Kataki picked it up and jumped up in the air in glee. "Yes! I caught a Sentrent!" She exclaimed, and her Cyndaquil jumped up and down, then leaped up on her shoulder. "Excellent job, Cyndaquil. Why dont'cha take a quick rest." Kataki said as she pulled out Cyndaquil's Poke-Ball and he gladly went inside.

(ooc: although the pokedex says fire mouse, don't you think cyndaquil is a ant eater? Anyway, I love cyndaquil, he's a friggin beast I once beat the game just using him. I so wish the battery didn't die on my silver game, or else I'd be playing it again...I hope they make a remake of it.)
Noro was walking in New Bark Town. It was very late at night, but his day had just begun. Most of the time he preferred traveling at night. He could see well in the darkness, and his pokemon enjoyed it as well. He also didn't have to deal with as many other pesky trainers always wanting to fight.
He was quite experienced, originally being from the Kanto region. He defeated all eight of the gym leaders from the region, however his prized pokemon were taken away by a criminal organization known as Team Rocket. Before moving on to Johto, he was able to befriend a Houndour outside of his hometown, Saffron City.
Noro was just walking down the path to Route 29 when he heard something. It was ringing, coming from his pocket. Oh, right, Noro thought. It's that new gadget I picked up. What was it called? PokeGear?
Noro pushed a button and answered the call. "Hey, what's up?" Noro asked the unknown caller.
"Hello, this is Professor Elm speaking, can you drop by my laboratory really quickly?" said the man on the phone.
"Um...I would," replied Noro, "but I'm not sure where that is."
"Oh that's easy," said Elm. "Just look behind you. There's only four houses in the town, you can figure it out.
Noro turned around to see a large building with lights shining brightly through it's windows.
"Oh, okay then. I'll see you in a few," Noro said as he hung up the phone.
Noro walked into the laboratory where there were huge machines, computers, and bookshelves. He approached a man fidgeting with something on a table. The man looked up at Noro.
"Oh, hello there, Noro, is it? I'm Elm." he said as he held out his hand.
"Nice to meet you. What was it you wanted me here for?"
"Well, I've heard of your success in the Kanto league from very reliable sources, and I was wondering if you could help me with something."
"Yeah, sure, I'll help if I can."
"Great. I want you to help me make a database of all the pokemon in Johto," said Elm with enthusiasm.
Noro was shocked at what he said. "Oh my, that sounds like an awful lot of work," Noro whined.
Elm shook his head. "Not at all, I just give you this pokedex, and it will scan anyone pokemon you point it at. Here, it will even attach to your pokegear." Elm attached the device to my pokegear.
"Oh, cool," said Noro. He turned around to leave and opened the door.
"I'll be calling you, Noro," said Elm.
"Great," Noro beamed at Oak. He turned his head and rolled his eyes.
Finally, Noro was able to continue down the road. He was about halfway down Route 30 when something happened. A noise came from his Pokegear. He held it up so he could see the screen. "Pokemon detected? But I don't see any..."
"Hoot!" a brown bird just over Noro's head. Noro ducked and covered his head with his arms.
"Whoa. That was close. Come on, take care of him, Fenrir!" said Noro as he held out a pokeball.
A small demonic dog jumped out of the ball and growled at the bird.
Noro read the information provided by the Pokedex. "Okay, it's called Hoothoot. So it's a Normal and Flying type. No weaknesses that I can exploit, unfortunately. Hit him with an Ember, Fenrir!
The Hoothoot was knocked back by the flame. His eyes then began to glow and a wave of energy was shot at the Houndour.
"Heh, you're wasting your time. Psychic attacks have no affect on Fenrir!" yelled Noro. "Use Bite!"
The Houndour lunged at Hoothoot and latched onto it's leg with powerful jaws. The Hoothoot cried in pain.
"Okay, that's enough, Fenrir," said Noro as he threw a pokeball at the fallen owl. The pokeball rocked back and forth on the ground a few times then stopped. Noro walked over to pick up his new pokemon. "It think Zephyr will be a suiting name for you. Okay, Fenrir, let's get to Cherrygrove so we can heal Zephyr.
Fenrir responded with a bark and they headed on their way to the next place on the map.

((OOC: Personally, I think of Cyndaquil as an echidna, but I guess that's just me... XD And omg, I really hope they make remakes! The second season was my favorite! ^^))
Kataki was now heading down the road to Cherrygrove City, when she noticed another pokemon trainer walking in that same direction. She smiled and made her way over to him, hoping that he was friendly. "Hello there!" She called out, waving. "You're on your way to Cherrygrove City too, huh?"

"Oh, hello," Noro replied. He saw that the girl had pokemon, and was clearly a trainer.
"I am headed to Cherrygrove," Noro answered her question. Noro liked the fact that she wasn't running up to battle him as soon as she saw him. Noro was still a little untrusting of people after what had happened to him.
Maybe she's different, Noro thought. Maybe she would be a worthy challenge, after she got a badge or two.
"I would like to talk longer, but I really have to get to the Pokemon Center to get this Hoothoot some medical attention. I've heard Team Rocket has been in this area, though. You need to be careful. Do you have a cell phone? You can call me if you ever get in trouble, or maybe if you want to battle. I'm sure our paths will cross again if you're going to be competing in the League."
Dyshir scribbled down his cell phone number held the small piece of paper out.

Kataki added Noro's number to her cellphone, then began walking down the path to Cheerygrove. She turned her head as she did this and waved good-bye at him. "Ok! You be careful too!" She said back to him.
Kataki soon reached Cherrygrove City, and spotted a pokemon center by the road. Hm... I should heal my Sentret, too. She thought and walked inside the center. Nurse Joy, a nice nurse with pink-ish hair in pigtail-loops, greeted her at the counter. "Hello! Welcome to the Pokemon Center!" "Hi, um, could you heal my Sentret, please?" Kataki asked, handing her pokemon's pokeball across the counter to the nurse. Nurse Joy nodded, and placed Sentret's pokeball in a strange machine. Kataki leaned against the counter and glanced around the center, noticing other trainers looking at posters, and taking care of their pokemon with Potions and other things.

(ooc: funny story about Noro's habits, several years ago over the summer I became mostly nocturnal ;D)
Noro walked as fast as he could to Cherrygrove, although he was tired after a long night of traveling. Half asleep, Noro went into the pokemon center and restored Zephyr to fighting shape.
He didn't stay long in the pokemon center, and found the closest hotel where he could spend the day sleeping. When he woke up, he saw the sun setting and ran towards his next destination, Violet City, where his first Johto gym challenge awaited.
He ran through Route 30, full of energy after a good day's sleep. When he approached the sign for Route 31, though, he collided with someone and fell onto the ground.
"Oof, I'm sorry," said Noro, in a daze. "I didn't mean to do that."
A young looking trainer carrying a net leaned over him. "Hey, you have pokemon, so let's fight! I'll use this one I just caught. You owe it to me for running into me like that."
Oh great, another newbie, thought Noro. Doesn't he know a net won't help him catch a pokemon? Hopefully this won't take too long. "I don't really want to waste my time, but let's just get this over with," Noro said as he gathered himself up off the ground.
"Go, Spinarak!" said the bug catcher. From his pokeball game a small green spider.
Hmm, so it's a bug type. Since he has an advantage, I'll let Zephyr get some experience. "Go, Zephyr!"
Out came the owl that Noro had recently caught.
(ooc: I just realized the first badge is the Zephyr Badge. Oh well.)
"Quick, Zephyr, use Peck!" Noro commanded. The Hoothoot took flight and went to swoop down on the Spinarak, but his move was countered.
The bug catcher hollered, "Spinarak, use string shot!"
The spinarak sent a stream of sticky webbing at the bird, and since the Hoothoot was inexperienced, he was unable to evade it.
"Aw, hell," Noro said. "C'mon, Zephyr, you have to break free from it!"
Flapping around on the ground, Zephyr managed to escape the entangling web, taking flight once more.
"Wing Attack!" Noro yelled.
Zephyr sent a burst of air at the spinarak, knocking back into a nearby tree trunk. After it lay on the ground, not moving.
The bug catcher looked bummed. "Darn it...Come back, spinarak. Okay, you can go," he told Noro.
Noro was happy for Zephyr's first victory. "Alright, Zephyr, nice job! Let's hurry to Violet Town, then!" Noro said as he released Fenrir from his ball to travel alongside him. The human and two pokemon traveled on through the night on route 31, eagerly awaiting their first real challenge.
